Adventure Fundraising at its Best
What is more fulfilling than a paddle on a beautiful river? Paddling on a beautiful river and bringing joy into the lives of people living with disabilities at the same time.
We call it Adventure Fundraising.
The Lewis and Clark Expedition may have been the most famous paddlers on the Missouri River, but they certainly were not the first nor the last. The 2023 PeaceMaker Paddle will trace part of the route by the famous explorers starting near Yankton, SD, and ending downstream in Sioux City, IA.
The purpose of the PeaceMaker Paddle is to raise money for and awareness of the StirringWaters aquatic project being built in Central Florida -- the most accessible place in the world.
Enjoy a three day moderate paddle with your evenings free to enjoy "Siouxland" along the river. Paddlers need to raise a minimum of $5K to participate, but if they raise at least $10K we will pay for the nightly hotel room at the Hilton Garden in Sioux City. Even if you do not want to paddle, you can still sign up as a PeaceMaker and help raise money for StirringWaters.
Form a fundraising team or represent your church, club, school, business, or community as you paddle each stroke.
StirringWaters is being developed in cooperation with Lake Aurora Christian Camp and Retreat Center to be a full aquatic experience intentionally inclusive of people with developmental and physical disabilities. Think underwater adventure while still in a wheelchair, or floating the lazy river on special rafts or even while in a wheelchair. Call it therapeutic, call it adventure, call it excercise, or call it FUN. A place where no one is left on the deck but all can get into the fun.
